The American Bank of Albania, on its 10th anniversary, has officially changed its name, being part of Intesa Sanpaolo, one of the largest banking groups in the Eurozone. From October 13, 2008, the American Bank will be known in the Albanian banking market as Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, changing also its visual identity.

The American Bank of Albania, on its 10th anniversary, has officially changed its name, being part of Intesa Sanpaolo, one of the largest banking groups in the Eurozone. From October 13, 2008, the American Bank will be known in the Albanian banking market as Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, changing also its visual identity.
 
High quality, fast services and integrity are the strongest points of the American Bank of Albania, giving the leading role in the Albanian banking market. Transparence and confidentiality are also an important duo in the client relations and in the bank’s philosophy during this period full of success.
 
The constant investments in technology and the dedication of the talented staff turned the bank into a leading actor, attracting the interest of the large regional banking groups such as the one that finalized the acquisition of the American Bank of Albania.
 

On June 29, 2007, the American Bank of Albania became part of Intesa Sanpaolo, one of the most powerful banking groups in Europe. This act was formalized with the visit of Mr. Giovanni Boccolini (head of the International Banking Division of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group) in Albania and the endorsement of the agreement with the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund.

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, with over 130.000 clients, is part of a “family” with over 19.7 million clients in Italy, Central and Southeastern Europe and Mediterranean basin. The 35 branches of Albania and Greece are part of a network of approximately 8,500 branches while the 500 employees of this bank will have over 101,000 colleagues around the globe.
 
The participants of the ceremony was greeted from Mr. Lorenco Roncari, President and CEO, Mr. Domenick Scaglione, the first chairman of the American Bank in 1998, and from Mr. Massimo Pierdichi, Chairman for the Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
 
Intesa Sanpaolo has leadership in the Italian market and a strong international presence focused on Central-Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean basin. Intesa Sanpaolo intends to become a benchmark for the creation of value in the European banking sector.

The domestic business is concentrated in the "Banca dei Territori", which comprises:

  • 6,543 branches dedicated to approximately 11.4 million retail customers in Italy;
  • 408 specialised centres for about 118,000 SME customers;
  • 163 specialised centres and a dedicated bank with 68 branches servicing approximately 82,000 private customers;
  • 59 branches specialised in industrial credit and consumer credit;
  • 52 branches of Banca Prossima, the bank of the Group servicing approximately 50,000 non-profit entities, the first in Europe fully dedicated to the social and non-profit sector;
  • platform for direct channels;
Bancassurance, with:
EurizonVita, one of the leading life insurance companies in Italy;
EurizonTutela, controlled by EurizonVita, active in the property-casualty business with products mainly focused on personal protection and the protection of personal assets;
Intesa Vita, a joint venture with the Generali Group operating in the life insurance business (company not subject to full consolidation, but carried at equity);
Sud Polo Vita, a company operating in the life insurance business resulting from the joint expertise of EurizonVita and Intesa Vita.
 

Corporate and Investment Banking

In the corporate and investment banking activity, Intesa Sanpaolo is a major player with 54 centres dedicated to about 20,000 corporate clients.

On the international level, Intesa Sanpaolo is present in 33 countries through a specialist network to facilitate the cross-border activities of its customers made up of branches, representative offices and subsidiaries focused on corporate banking. Intesa Sanpaolo manages relationships with a network of approximately 4,000 correspondent banks.
 

International Subsidiary Banks
