ABA experiences continued growth with POS installations
Tirana, 16 February 2006 - In 2005, after receiving POS merchant-acquiring licenses from both major international companies Visa and MasterCard, the American Bank of Albania started the implementation of the POS merchant acquiring process.

After signing and installing its first POS terminal, in June 2005, ABA saw a rapid growth of new POS installations with merchants eager to sing up before the end of the year festivities.

An increasing number of merchants now use ABA POS terminals and new terminals are being installed every day in shops, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, supermarkets, gas stations, medical clinics, etc. (see list of POS Merchants)

Growth of ABA POS terminals is also evident in terms of its coverage in all cities in Albania. Presently, apart from Tirana there are also ABA POS terminals in Durres, Korce, Elbasan, Fier, Vlore and Lushnje, with plans to expand even further in the future.
