The Bank contributes with a fund of 50.000 euro for the inundated areas in Shkodra

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania has made available a fund of 50.000 euro to assist the massive flood affected families in Shkodra to feed their cattle. The fund was raised by a joint contribution coming from Intesa Sanpaolo Bank HQ in Milan with an amount of 10. 000 euro and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank in Albania with an amount of 40.000 euro.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Stefano FARABBI, states that “by offering the food to the cattle in these affected zones, we offer a sustainable and fundamental contribution to improving the family and livelihood conditions deteriorated from the inundations”. Starting from 22 March, the food was distributed to the eligible familjes in all communes under the supervision of the representatives of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania and in cooperation with the local authorities. Mr. Albert KUSHTI, General Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Consumer Affairs, and Mr. Stefano FARABBI, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, assisted the last day of the food distribution in the village of Baksriollë, to stress the importance of this support and to share the solidarity with the inhabitants of the flood affected zone going under difficult recovery moments.


The budget estimates a food coverage for a 10-days period for more than 3 400 cattle belonging to approximately 800 families in need, in around 15 villages of the communes of Dajç, Bushat, Guri i Zi and Obot. The last day of food aid delivery, Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Stefano FARABBI stated that, “by offering the food to the cattle in these affected zones, we offer a sustainable and fundamental contribution to improving the family and livelihood conditions deteriorated from the inundations”. The area of Shkodra contributes with 7% of the total agricultural productivity in the country, therefore, the experts in this field estimate the support of the local farmers as very important towards returning to the soonest to the normal conditions and overpass the damages caused.It is important to mention the collaboration with the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Consumer Affairs, the Regional Directory of Shkodra and with the Head of the Communes, that have assisted our aid operation by disseminating the list of eligible families benefiting from such a fund.
