Different categories of funds

The main difference concerns the financial assets in which they invest and, therefore, the potential risk and return that characterizes them:

  • Liquidity funds or money market funds (also known as money funds) - These are funds that invest in short-term instruments (no more than 6 months) of the money market, the risk of which is low.
  • Bond Funds - These are Funds that invest primarily in government and corporate bonds and are characterized by a generally lower degree of risk than equity funds.
  • Balanced Funds - These are Funds that invest, in different parts, in both equity and bonds; therefore they are a combination of equity and bond funds. The level of risk of balanced funds increases with the increase of capital in the portfolio.
  • Equity Funds - These are Funds that invest mainly in equity and are generally characterized by a high degree of risk.
  • Flexible funds - These are funds that have no restrictions on the distribution of assets (equity bonds): their investment policy is not linked to a reference point, but to a measure of portfolio risk (Var).
