Roundtable between Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania & Financial Supervisory Authority for Investment Funds

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania and the Financial Supervisory Authority held a roundtable discussion during which the strategy of Investment Funds, as well as the performance and evolution of the Bank’s investment funds, were presented. The discussion also covered opportunities for further development of investment activities and the distribution of financial instruments in the Albanian market.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Giuseppe Giampietro, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, stated:
“The development of the investment market in Albania represents a strategic priority for Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania and for the Intesa Sanpaolo Group. We are committed to contributing to this direction through the transfer of international expertise, the provision of innovative products, and the support of financial education, with the aim of creating a more sustainable, transparent market oriented toward the needs of local investors.”
In her opening remarks, Ms. Adela Xhemali, Executive General Director of the Authority, emphasized the importance of this discussion, noting that it comes at an important moment for the development of Albania’s capital market.
“Although the capital market remains in a developmental phase, the increasing trend is encouraging. The expanding complexity of financial products requires higher standards of governance, transparency, and investor protection. In this context, the Authority will continue to support innovation and international expertise in the market, while ensuring full compliance with the regulatory framework. In line with the EU integration process, we will continue to work closely with all market stakeholders to build a more developed, resilient, and trustworthy capital market in Albania,” Ms. Xhemali remarked.
The roundtable included distinguished guests from the Intesa Sanpaolo Group structures:
- Mr. Andrea Gorlato Senior Director of IBD Wealth Management & Protection, representative of the International Banks Division, presented an overview of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group and the role of the International Banks Division in developing the Group’s international activities.
- Ms. Liuba Samotyeva, Head of Coordination of IBD Initiatives at Eurizon, presented the asset management company of Intesa Sanpaolo Group as one of the key players in the European asset management market, with a broad international presence and over 35 years of experience. She also highlighted Eurizon’s commitment to financial education and the development of investment culture through dedicated platforms and educational materials for clients.
- Mr. Guido Schmidt, Senior Expert Product Development at Eurizon, who presented the product offering and new potential solutions selected for the Albanian market.
- Mr. Luca Gamna, Head of Investment Products Sales (ISP Networks), representative of IMI Corporate & Investment Banking, Intesa Sanpaolo, who presented new investment products, including Investment Certificates and Structured Deposits, as well as their characteristics and distribution model.
- Mr. Emanuele Danzi, Head of IBD Global Markets, Intesa Sanpaolo, presented hedging solutions for interest rates and commodities.
Senior representatives from the management of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania and the Financial Supervisory Authority also participated in the roundtable.
Within the framework of capital market development in Albania, the Financial Supervisory Authority appreciated the cooperation and the importance of this meeting as a significant step toward further strengthening the market and increasing opportunities for local investors.
During the discussions, the importance of the sustainable development of the investment market in Albania was highlighted, in full compliance with the regulatory framework and with a particular focus on transparency, information, and client protection.
